Lyretail Mollies

Livebearer fry that are over a couple of weeks old can be fed frozen daphnia and they love it. As with all food, don't overfeed and be careful to remove uneaten food.

i have been diping the tip of a toothpick and letting some small amount of food to catch on it. i dip it twice. there is never any uneat'n food left over with over 15 fry i believe i have now :)

hello i have a question about these guys. will or can they mate with normal mollies, platies, balloon mollies? i noticed my male balloon mollie has the same type of tail as the lyretail. Thks.

That's a good question...I was wonder the same myself. I have a dalmation Molly and an Cremescile Lyretail....Please let me know if you find out the answer.

Sincerely,

Janel

There are two answers paralegal. The first answer is that mollies pay no real attention to things we find significant like the color of the fish so that will not inhibit the breeding at all. The second answer is that many if not most of the things we keep as mollies today are derived from 3 different species. They are poecilia shenops and poecilia velifera and poecilia lattipinna. The many characteristics we value in the fish are the result of long term breeding programs using all of these fish so a lot depends on how closely the fish are genetically related rather than on what characteristics we see in them from our perspective. If they are too far apart they may not be very interested.

oh i see. i'm now observing some of the fry are getting a dark on their heads, it's very faded tho so i will see what happens. Somea re just getting more orange like the wagtale.. orange with black tails.
