i have to add marine sand to my 55 gallon so my peacock dosent cut himself (marine sand all my petco sells) and when i do the ph will go up as i have heard. once it does, will it go up to a dangerous rate for my freshwater fish? or will they be fine? if it does turn out to be dangerous, how do lower the ph for GOOD?
thanks in advance

get the shop to order the right sand in for you dont start messing with the ph its a dangerous game and you will end up killing the fish

Keep looking until you find the right sand or as suggested get them to order it. Everything I've read about PH is that you do NOT want to start messing around with it because it can fluctuate quite rapidly if it's not stable. You are better off putting in something that isn't likely to change the ph than something that you are going to THEN have to counteract for the rest of the tanks life. Seems like you would be better off that way?

all they have is this gravel that is like sand cuz the rocks are like crushed into small morsels but not like sand, will he cut himself on that? :/ ill try to get some pics of it

If your fish is a freshwater fish...marine sand will not work. It'll add salt to your tank which your fish doesn't need.

You can either go locally and get silica sand or play sand or you can buy it online.
This is the sand I put in my tanks. It needs very very little cleaning and there is very little clouding of the tank when you first put it in. There's white and black colors of it.

I think Petsmart actually sells this sand in their stores too.
