If i stick some peat fibre in one of the drawers in my EX1200 will it lower my PH and keep the PH stable and a slightly lower level. (ideally want a PH of 6.8..currently 7.3)

If so when i do a water change what happens to the PH and hardness, will it rise, but then fall again as the peat does its thing? or will i need to add more peat to replace the stuff that affected the water that is now removed?..im confused..I have 2 pieces of bogwood in the tank that arent leeching tannins but are they still lowering my PH a bit?

When you do a water change, the water that goes back into the tank will not be the same as the water in the tank. That means that you will see some pH swing with the water change.
