I was thinking about setting up a tank that was on the acid side of the pH scale but my water has a pH of 8. I know you can use bog wood to a small degree and packet stuff but is there other ways of producing acidic water? All links on the subject would be welcomed. Thanks

Unfortunately, it is much more difficult to lower pH naturally than it is to raise it. There are plenty of substrates now that will raise pH, mainly made for cichlid keepers. The only things that lower pHnaturally though are driftwood, peat and CO2. The other problem is that high pH water is usually hard too with a high KH. That means that you have a lot of buffering capacity so it is harder to change the pH. If you have high pH water, you are probably better off keeping fish that will thrive in it.
