Well I dont know if guys saw it but I posted in the emergency section, my female got dropsy really quickly over about 3 days. I managed to isolate her into a 10g and gave her some meds but we found her dead tonight in the QT tank. Gutted, not going to try and breed again until I have two set ups to separate the pair when things go bad.

I think it was the abuse from him that did it, I feel terrible. We have decided to rehome the male now as he is now taking it out on my A.Diadema so think he will really limit our plans for the upgrades. Its not going to be the same without her :(

Sorry to hear that, I know how you feel, my male Thorichthys Aureus battered my female to death within hours when she refused to breed again with him so soon after the first batch of fry, I was totally gutted. RIP lady HRP.

Really sorry to hear that, especially as your HRP breeding programme was going so well. Know just how you feel as I lost my breeding female convict and all her fry a few months ago. Mine died as a result of some mystery toxin in the water following a big water change though because the male almost died too. Male con has 2 new females now but just chases them. Given up on breeding too.
Did you get a geo in the end?

Sorry to hear about your cons :( Hopefully something will work out as cons dont take much to breed "just add water". Not got any geos now having a big rethink about what to have now. Decided to take back my headstanders as well as they just hide in the valis all day and with the amount of space in the stock list they take their not earning their keep.

Sorry. What a bummer. I myself think the qute " breeders can't be hobbists and hobbists can't be breeders " I find this to be ture. We grow attached to our fish they are pets. We try and give them the best tank setup we can. Were breeders don't tend to always feel that way. I split up my blue acara pair and will never try and breed again. It's too much drama. I rather just enjoy my fish.

Hope your upgrade goes well.

I am sorry to read of your loss. I can only sympathise, I lost my male ellioti a couple of weeks ago, I only had one batch of fry off the pair and now I am loathed to sell them as I miss him! Dunno where I would put 60+ fish !

Dang man! Feel bad for ya. Gonna get rid of current pair as soon as I go to LFS. Might see if I can trade in for something for the 100 USG.
