Well what can i say,my fiancee started painting the other day while i was out and this lasted approx 3-4 days DUMBO here never thought and realized any of the days that the tanks should of been covered with cling film...so tell me i am ready to do WC's tomorrow at some point hopefully as i have been in bed with vomiting and severe vertigo so this is why i will only be getting around to doing it now,how much of a WC do you do if the fumes of the paint have been in both tanks,i have lost loads of fish in the smaller tank and about 5 in the bigger tank,so what all really needs to be done at this point in time, does everything need to come out off the tank and get thoroughly cleaned etc?

Cheers Graham

Sorry for your losses, Graham. Not sure what to advise to be honest altho I would imagine a large water change would be needed to get rid of the toxins from the paint.

I would do at least a 50% water change asap then daily water changes of about 20% for a week or so .

THanks for your help, would i need to add anything else to the water other than the dechlorinator?

I believe putting activated carbon in the filter will help remove toxins as well.

Carbon is indicated in this case, yes.

Personally, I would do an 85/90% water change; leaving just enough water for the fish to swim upright before refilling, if at all possible. Don't forget to switch your heaters/filters off before you do water changes this large!

Thanks squidneh Yeah i hope to get it tomorrow if i can get out of bed with this vertigo...nightmare... I think i would try to remove as many of the fish as i can by doing such a large WC,tell me is there anyway of getting my water to stay crystal clear, just there is no tanin seeping out of the redmoor now.

Thank-you ladies for your input there ;)
