I was planning on getting an API tap water filter, but for the amount they cost and the amount of water I'm going to be changing I think it would be best to bite the bullet and get an RO unit.
I was thinking this one, as it's the cheapest on the site.
http/www.bigalspet...ter-24-gpd.html (I hope it doesn't pop up as Fish Fourms.net as I've seen it do to others)
I was wondering if anyone who has a similar product can tell me about it, I've read reviews and done some research but I'd like someone from my neck of the woods to give me their opinion, and some information.
How much water can it filter an hour? I don't want to have to wait all night to get 7 Gal of water.
Do I need to worry about the fact that this unit is a 3 stage and not a 4 and doesn't include a DI stage or is that just to make the water ultra-pure?
If I wanted to use it on my tank I would introduce it slowly. I usually end up doing 4 trips to the tub with my 15 lt bucket so I generally change 60 lt of my 115 lt at most. Would introducing the RO say, 10 lt first change, 20 lt and so on until the entire water change is in RO?
If anyone has any pointers I would much appreciate it
(For those wondering, my tap pH is 8.0-8.2 and I'm really hoping to make a thriving GBR tank, which prefer 5-7) I'm aiming for 7 ish
On the bright side if I ever want African Cichlids, I'm set.
