Looking For Red Schooling Fish

I am wondering what type of schooling fish there are that are red in color and get a decent size of 3-4 inches.

I am familiar with Serpae Tetras, Cherry Barbs, Rosy Barbs, Red Phantom Tetras; I have little luck with Serpaes, Cherrys are too small as well as Phantoms, and from what I read Rosy Barbs get too big for me (5-6 inches).

Can anyone suggest a larger schooling fish with the main body color of Red that isnt too nippy, wont grow too large, mid level swimmer, likes lower pH and Hardness. No Orange please.
Any suggestions would be wonderful, I cant seem to get a decent list of except for the ones I already know of. Thank you!98**********************************************

how about odessa barbs? not completely red but still quite a lot of red .

do they have to be all red or just with red on them?

ive just bought a group of colombian tetras that have red fins and a silvery blue sheen to the body and look great in a group. they shoal well and keep in the mid area of the tank and get to 2.5-3 inch ish but have deep bodies like the serpae etc.

just out of interest why no orange? not that i can think of an orange fish off the top of my head except for platy/swordtails etc

What about a Rosey tetra? My LFS had some which looked very pink/reddy. Pictures on google are a bit hit and miss, but it might be worth keeping an eye out for.

They were actually XL Rosey Tetra's.

cherry barbs when adult get a decent size and look lovely in a group in my opinion

Mostly red in color preffered.

I love serpaes but regardless of what my water chemistry and quality is, how often I do water changes, or if I quarentine prior to adding to my tank they seem to waste away after having them for months, growing, and seemingly fine, everything else in my tank does fine except them. I cant have anything too small as my Killi fish have a tendency to never leave small fish alone and will sometimes eat them if small enough.

Im familiar with Columbian Tetras aka Red Blue Tetras at pet stores and they dont tickle my fancy.
I like Odessa Barbs but anytime I've ever seen them they seem to either hide or swim very low in the tank. Is this normal or will they swim in the middle level of the tank?

Rosy tetras are beautiful and great in schools the redder they are the healthier they are. I love mines.

my odessa barbs are mainly in te middle but they zip about all over, they look stunning when in a group and are a little bigger the red really stands out.

What about Red Eyed Tetras? They're not completely red but still, they look magnificent.

My vote goes to Rosy barbs they are great clean up fishes and destroy algae. As for 5-6 inches I see that as a real stretch even in my 90 gallon with tons to food (left overs from the discus) they topped out at a small ~3inches

Do you know how tiny these fish are??? Easily eaten by many fish. Not really suitable for community tanks, more like very small nano tanks with gentle filters. It is very common for Boraras to get sucked up by internal/external filters
