Look What I'm Getting

i believe he is missing his caudal fin. and the anal and doras are fused together?
Yah he's missing his caudal/tail fin... it doesn't look like the anal and dorsal fins are fused together though, but there's no gap between them where they meet his body. What a funky guy... are you going to spawn him Synirr?

Its strange how people think that this is a negative deformity . Not only is it cute but it cost quite a bit more doolah . And yep , it has been on the forum before - I posted it in the "Best of Aquabid" thread ( where , Synirr - didn't you say you stopped bidding on him because he was way too expensive :p ).

d'oh! :X he's a tail-less wonder, just like Synirr's Midas hybrid! (i figured it out as soon as bUcky wrote "caudal") that explains the funny flat look with the dimple.

i feel like such a doofus :fun: can't even recognize which parts of a betta are missing... :p

whats wrong with him????hes pretty errr gorgeous errrrr HANDSOME I love him
I want one like it lol

Himmel
:good: :hyper:

sweet, how much did you pay for him, half-price? ahaha but seriously he is cool.
Less than that ;)
Only $40 including shipping to the US, not bad for such an unusual fish, I think.

Oooo, I like it! :D

Ohh from Mr. Polsin of Teparak, Samutprakarn Betta .... He's my teacher in betta fighting lol

Remember I was telling you stories about him like his first spawned was the ugliest fish ever created lol
Haha, that was him?

Yeah, the fins aren't fused from what I can see, but they do meet at the base. I have a pic of an African cichlid a friend bred that did have fused fins like that though, it was just a body with no caudal peduncle and one fin all the way around . Yes, I'm going to experimentally spawn him to see if it's genetic, but I'm not planning to produce a line from him and fry numbers will be extremely limited.

It costs more... yeah, that's what drove people to start mutilating flowerhorns and BPs to produce tailless ones, and precisely why I'm not really comfortable with making a line like this. I do want to see what a DT plakat with no tail would look like, but that's mostly for my own curiosity. I never bid on him, for the record, the starting bid was $100. I just messaged the seller after the auction ended and made an offer :)

whats wrong with him????
He has no caudal peduncle or caudal fin... basically that entire part of his spine is missing.

Looks like he developed a little tumor on his fins after his auction pics were taken, but oh well... it's pretty common in opaques, and he is obviously from opaque lines, although he is platinum himself. His pigmentation is very thick.

The fins ARE actually fused, after all.

Oooh! Niiice.
Can you get him at a flare and snap a picture? I'd really like to see a fused tail fully flared.

I'll try to flare him sometime soon, he doesn't seem too aggressive so I dunno how well it'll work out. He had just arrived when those pics were taken, so obviously not in the mood to intimidate anyone :p
