I was just wondering whats the longest time people have been able to keep a Betta alive?
Sorry if this question has been posted and asked often but i havent seen one yet so forgive me if so.
I've only ever had my one boy 'Sparkles' who comming up in April I will have had him for 3 years and he was about a year old when i adopted him so he'd be around 4 years old now. He started off in a 2.5G heated tank and has now graduated to a 6G heated eclipse tank. I dont use the eclipse filter becuase it throws him around the tank and in his old age hes not that strong so he has a little small elite mini filter with a peice of sponge over the little outtake to dilute the current.
How old do these fish usually live around for anyways if given proper care like most of us here give??
One funny but very very scarey story i have with Sparkles is one day a few months after i got him i was washing out his old tank in the bathroom and had him on my dresser in a small dish and I decided that since I have never seen him jump that i wouldnt cover it this time.....
Well as you can guess I came back into the room to find him flat on the hardwood floor where he had jumped off 4ft high dresser!!!!
I was so surprised and I must of had a mini heart attack but i gently scooped him up and while he was really shocked and didnt move for a few minutes he never really seemed effected by his great fall. Everytime I go by his tank and look at him he gets so excited it just melts my heart that hes done so well after i thought forsure he wouldnt live long at all.
You can also include your funniest betta story you have as well if you want along with the longest time youve had a certain betta.
Heres a pic of my old guy just for fun... dont mind the bubbles on the tank. I did a water change earlier and for some reason i still get the bubbles all over everything even though the tank is over 2 months old...
