I have a comm tank ranging from rainbowfish to parrot fish and severums and a climbing perch ect. I notice they all go mad for brine shrimp, river shrimp and all other common livefoods. But lately ive been thinking outside the box and have been feeding crickets, moths and daddy long legs. I just wondered is that ok and what else is ok? Ladybirds? Spiders? Woodlouse? Small snails?butterflys? Caterpillars? Wheres the limit?

As long as you know they are pesticides free, then pretty much anything, tho I would be hesitant with most spiders, and free roamers ie; butterflies and roaches, or things that eat crops, grasshoppers and certain caterpillars. Also, several caterpillars are toxic, so keep that in mind. Really gut loaded crickets and other live foods from a pet or bait store are the best choice.

What about greenflies? They would have to be harvested from plants that are non-toxic themselves, and have not been sprayed for at least four weeks. Alternatively isolate a pot plant in the house, and transplant a few from the garden. Harvest as available. I don't know if this would work, but it seems a good idea, especially for small surface swimming tetras.???

Earth worms (washed) and 4th brown crickets are my tanks favourite.
They go berzerk for them!
I hand feed them and the crickets i feed to them on a plastic tweezers and i pop them in my hand!
Every one of my fish love the crickets the most...full of protein too.
