Lights Off When Treating Ich?

Is there any truth to this and why turn the lights off?

Because heat can speed the spreading of ich but I’m not sure if it’s a myth or not.

Heat kills the ich, that's why treatment is to turn the heater up.

Light has nothing to do with white spot but some people do reduce light when treating velvet because it can photosynthesise. So they remove light to help weaken it and the heat and salt kill it.

That’s the way I’ve always done it too but reading on ich it says without the light, the parasite can’t breed/grow in the gravel. New one on me.

White spot can live quite happily in light or dark conditions, and there are strains that live in fresh, brackish and sea water.

Velvet can live quite happily on fish in dark conditions too
