Hi there I've just bought a new tank and its a Fluval Roma 240, I originaly thought it came with lights but its only got the lighting units. My budget is stretched at the moment and just rang round to find out that the bulbs I need start at £22 each so thats £44 all together and that is just way way too much for me at the moment.

So does anyone know where I can get cheap bulbs from at all? I only have java fern and giant valis so lighting is not too important. I only have one stockist of roma bulbs localy and the other place was absolutely useless.

Please help :)

i was told by an LFS (and stupid me believed them) that you shouldnt use B&Q bulbs as they cause algae... but i didnt know my tank already has them on and no algae!!

Ah fantastic! I have quite a good clean up squad with snails and a greedy L235 so algae isnt too much of a problem. Do you know how much the BnQ bulbs cost?

Thanks guys Wills

Hi thanks for the help guys. I got sorted in the end and got a good outcome :D

I went into my local MA to size up the lights and then planned to get off to BnQ but right next to the door a discount bin of bulbs, buy one get one free. So Ive come away with some Hagen Sun-Glo lights which in total cost me £15 so £7 each isnt bad in my books :hyper:

Not sure how good these are but I am sure they are better than household bulbs, the box says they are white which I am hoping for as my current lights give the tank a slight purpley haze and it bugs me a bit especially in photos.

I pick the tank up tomorrow so keep an eye out for the journal :good:
