hey :)

Ive decided to go for a heavily planted tank... but ive got bogged down in all the different lighting which is available :/

what i have at the moment is a twin lighting unit with two 20w t8's... a hagen aqua glow and sun glow.

this gives me around 1.4 wpg and clearly isnt enough as most of my other plants died off within a month or two

ive thought of squeezing in another double lighting unit, or changing the bulbs but dont know if this would make much difference? :dunno:

Any ideas?

yer i was looking at those...although my budget isnt very big

Unless i could find a system around the £30-£40 region

ypu should be able to add tou you existing lights for that...

What is the tank dimensions?

The tank dimensions are 80x35x45(cm)

just enough room to fit another bulb or two in. Going to the lfs today so i'll see what they have in store ... and have a nosey at what lighting they use ;)

Hi,

I'm from Peterborough too. Do you use The Waterzoo in Millfield? They stock a good selection of tubes. Personally I would change you current tubes for High-Output Full-Spectrum T8s. As Konrad said Life-Glo are good. I use Dennerle Special-Plant which are excellent and Arcadia Freshwater Lamp - both of which are available in The Waterzoo.

I assume you have a Fluval 800 set-up, fitting extra lighting will be awkward. I would just swap the tubes as suggested.

yer ive been to waterzoo a few times before, but we tend to go to whyvail in crowland... its probably not got as much equipment but has many healthy fish and a fair few tanks on show

Last time they had my tank (hagen 800 duo) on show which was heavily planted

If they have the tubes you suggested i will buy them

Thanks for all the help! :D
