my tank is near a very bright window does this mean i need lighting
NOTE:im getting live plants

Probably not, but I bet you will have a lot of algae problems!

is everybody sure because i dont want to buy plants and have no flourescent light for them
only 2 hours of that light are sunshine

In his lighting write-up pinned in the planted section, George Farmer reminds us that we should "bear in mind that plants don't recognize photoperiods of less than 4 hours."

Obviously photosynthesis starts up immediately when the leaf is exposed to light but it may be that the full chemical "machinery" of the overall process in the plant needs time to get going and stay running, in order to provide electron transfer to use the fertilizer nutrients.

This is true, for the 4 hour thing, I have read the same thing as well.

my light cycle is like this


8am-6pm 6pm-8pm 8;30pm
bright window light sunlight dark

i managed to get a light so whaen in this period shoukd it be on and off?
