ok i have fake plants in my tank. and i dont know if i want to put real ones in there but my question is i have the lights that came with my tank.. i was wondering if i could up grade them so the colors of my fish pop out a little bit more.. make the light a little bit natural.. bc at my lfs the two girls had no clue at all they were reading from the boxes... or would i just be wasting my money by trying to up grade lights...

thanks andy

How long have the tubes been there?

Most tanks come with quite good lighting anyway.
I find the aqua-glo series good.

i dont know how long they are... its two sets of lights in my 55 gallon tank.. maybe 18 inches if i had to guess. so aqua-glo will help bring more colors out of my fish then?

When I had my small Juwell tank I was annoyed that the tube went after only a few months. I had to purchase a replacement from the LFS but was absalutely delighted in the difference it made to the colours. Maybe the tubes supplied with the tank are basic so my opinion is yes it certainly IS worth the upgrade :good:

in my observations that is correct, i changed from the default tube that came with the tank to a life-glo 2 and it made my tank look a whole lot better, and plants can grow now!

yea i have ciclids and with a black back round and black gravel . the water is crystal clear. but u can tell the lighting is so dull i want to spark things up a little bit.

On the subject of lights, there are a few things I would like to ask, I have got a Juwel rio vision 260, the couple I bought it off put an aqua glo and moonlight tubes in...the question is do you know of anyone that has converted a standard Juwel light system so you can switch the tubes on and off individually. The next question is if not, now the days are getting longer and that tank gets more light, is it feasable to put another moonlight tube in, and change it back to the aqua glo in the winter for the plants.....as the lights are wired together and you need two tubes in for them to work.
