Hey how do u put 160 or 3 wpg in a 55 gallon tank? its like in a 55 gallon , the hoods(theres 2) is only for a 15 watt for each hood. so how do u put more watts in a limited hood system??

i've had a similar problem. I take it your hood has an integrated light controller and fitment for a single bulb? Your best bet is to rip out all the existing light fitting and buy a dual T5 light controller or multiple T8 units, then DIY fit the tubes into your hood.

At the moment i'm using an original hood with a 15W bulb, with part of another hood with the light attached shining through the feeding flap... bit of a bodge but does the job without spending money.

If you have around ~£60 to spend you'll be able to get an overtank iluminair such as an arcadia unit for your size tank which will give you ample lighting, and also looks pretty smart!

ya i have that hood, so when I upgrade my tank to a 55 gallon , thats wat i need to get....im going for a 130 watt compact , saw it online yesterday , its like 95 euros, thats should be ideal for my low lite plants :good:

I found this on another site, can a VHO bulb( it has more watts than standard ones) be installed in a standard hood ?
