Hi all, I hav a small journal running in the aquarium Pic forum, where I and a friend are both running seperate nanos.

15 litres (or so).

I have had trouble finding any info on the tanks - they are the Betta life space range I believe (no bxes/info with them).

They come with everything installed in 2 hood sections -

one for the trickle filter
one for the lighting

The small safety leaflet claims they are T5 tubes (one is a blue and the other a white) Obviously I want to remove the blue as it is no good for my setup, and unfortuntately the white is starting to flicker (cant take it back - it was free).

So the crux of te matter - is there anywhere (I've been searching) that I can buy some T5 or T8 tubes (26mm diameter - ~10inches long)? If not I will have to dissamble the hood and install an Arcpod.

Thanks all!

Would this be suitable?

Whats the wattage of the ones you have? If they are 26mm diameter they are T8's. Also it would be useful to know the exact length, it sounds like they are 12" but could be 9", and they dont do 10" tubes :)

www.aquatics-online.co.uk have a wide selection of tubes, but there are cheaper generic tubes if necessary.

Cheers I'm pretty certain they are 9" tubes as the nano is such a small tank.

Unfortunately Im in work and the tanks at home :p doh!

hmmmm would two T8s in a small tank be over kill?

If they are 9" then you're looking at a 6w tube, so two tubes would give you 12w, which might sounds a lot over a 15lt tank but is not at all. I've run a 24lt with 48w in the past.

The only 9" T8 tube I know of is the Arcadia original tropical, but I actually think thats only 16mm wide strangely enough.

I'm guessing the measurements are 26mm - across the 2 thin tubes - EG its a power compact bulb - not a T8 tube (that is 8/8ths of an inch wide.)

our small nano came with an 11w power compact.... I ripped that out and put twin 24W PC bulbs in :)

I have seen fish r fun T5s in ....P@H which are 8W I think and about 9". Maybe they are those sort.

They would be fine. Even on a nano thats quite a bit of light, be sure to get your CO2 and ferts sorted as well :)

cool cheers all!

Managedto get in contact with someone who had stock left of the specific bulbs, so ordered one for now. Will upgrade the lighting after christmas when i introduce CO2
