Hi everyone, so I want to do a big makeover of my 24 litre tank so it is an iwagumi sort of style. I noticed the carpeting plants that I wanted to keep (eleocharis parvula and marsilea quadrifolia) need medium to high lighting. I was going to change the lighting anyway, because all I have is a spotlight lamp that I can't angle well enough so that it doesn't melt the tank's rim plastic, so it's kept to the side. What lighting do I need for this tank and where can I get it? My options are lighting strips with suckers or clip on lamps (my tank only has a plastic sheet type lid).

Thanks in advance and I hope you can help :)

Do you have any links to suitable ones? (I'm in the UK too)

Try ebay there is a good selection on there.

I'm still not sure on how strong they need to be. Thanks fro the input though :)

These are the ebay numbers for a couple of LED tubes I am purchasing. 181269111941 and 171174514140. Hope this helps.

The starter motor in my lid broke which meant I can no longer have lights in my tank and then I found these lights. They are great they have suction pads for both ends. The also have double sided sticky tape and screws to attach them if you need to. They are also fully submersible so I used the suction pads to stick them to the underside of my lid and if they do fall it does not matter as they can be in the water. I have attached a eBay link this is just to show you the lighting I got mine from my lfs. Hope this helps from Tom

Thanks for the help, I like those submersible ones and I think I'll buy the 36-38cm one. :)

Glad I could help I went a whole year without lights till I found these guys and they are great. I also use them in a tank that I converted from cold water to tropical tank and the tank never had a light in for the cold water fish but I felt that the tropical fish would need one and they really are not that expensive either which is a good thing.
Also if you are looking for something to light up the tank get the white one and not the blue. For my tank to start with I got 1 blue and 1 white and in my opinion the blue was absolutely awful and really did not make the tank look brighter it make it look stupid from Tom
