Hi Folks,
I need to purchase a new bulb for my tank. On the bulb it says Jewel aquarium warmwhite 25watt/742 mm. Can anyone recommend a cheap but decent place to get a new one from. Also i was wanting to have my tank a little bit brighter, would i be able to put a 30watt bulb in?

Thanks

i would go with another juwel replacement (purely because its easier)

youve got T8s so dont buy a highlite tube as it wont work.

go to a juwel stockist and buy either a daylight or warm light T8 25watt, even putting a higher wattage bulb wouldnt mean you get more watts, you will still only get 25 watts as thats all the ballast can provide

my juwel trigon 190 requires 2 x 18 watt tubes measuring 590mm but after looking for replacements at my local aquatics i found out that they had 3 different makes of tube the first one a juwel at 590mm the second 595mm and the third tube was 600mm but after asking the shop owner i took all three out of the packets and laid them along side each other.
they were all the same overall length but the juwel tube had a shorter glass tube and longer metal fittings on the ends and the third tube had a longer glass tube and shorter metal fittings .
they all fitted into the display trigon 190.
i did not measure the actual glass of the tube but i believe the metric measurment given is the glass and the imperial measurment is the length end to end which was 24 inches.
i hope this helps.

i think hagen do a 750mm tube at 25 watt.
if you remove your juwel tube and measure end to end i think it will be closer to 30 inches rather than the 742mm written on the glass tube.
please reply as i would like to know if im wrong before you spend any money on a tube that might not fit.
i also think that arcadia do a 30 inch tube at 30 watt but im unsure if the juwel ballast will actually light the the tube and if so probably shorten the life span of the ballast.
these are t8 tubes.
:good:

One of the best places I found online is hellolights.com. I haven' tbought from them in a while but eerytime I have, the service was good and they prices competitive. With florescent tubes, you are pretty much limited on wattage as most bulbs of equal length seem to be the same wattage.
