I had planned to use normal florescent lighting to light my fish room. However, having just added in a new consumer unit which has an RCD circuit beaker, it had reminded me that RCDs do not light florescent lighting....it keeps tripping.

So i need to add a new form of lighting to the room. Any ideas? Does it make any difference? I wanted something that would distribute the light well, hence the use of the tubes.

How big is your fish room? I ask because my LFS doesn't have any lighting in their fish room, they just rely on the light from the tanks and I think it looks lovely. You could always buy a small lamp for areas you might be working in.

Would having some spotlights aimed at a diffuser in the middle of the room work?

If not a couple of pendent lights spread out?

I am going for the opposite approach - the lights of the fish room will light the tanks!

I don't think pendent lights will give off enough light really.... the room is only 4.5m x 2m.... i think i a bit of trial and error will answer this one lol
