...first of all, i know how odd it sounds.
Most of you prob went "WTF 10WPG?!? "

My tank lid is pretty old and only accepts 25W tubular incandescent light bulb.
But someone told me that incandescent light bulbs are for marine.

Today my dad bought a light from his office, which actually goes into my lid. (very rare)
The only problem is, it has 100W light intensity. Considering that my tank is 10g, that gives me 10WPG.
The good thing is, it so friggin effective that it works on 25watt power. --___-- (technology really improves these days). It creates almost no heat.

That thing is so bright that it can pretty light up my entire room when i turn it on. It is white in colour.

Will my fishes go blind or create a fire underwater?!

Should be fine, probably not good for plants though.

What kind of light is it? Is the actual wattage 100, because I thought you said that your fixture holds a 25 watt bulb.

yea it says maximum 25Watt. It only says that because any wattage higher than 25 will generate enough heat to melt the canopy.

But this bulb does not create any heat, thus extremely efficient.

*95% of energy used in light is wasted by heat* :)

Well that is more than enough. But the amount of algae that light will cause if unimaginable  Well do the lights have a ballast or fan.

I've had this tank right beside a big window for more than 3 years.
During summers it receive direct sun light for at least 8-9 hours a day.
But i've had not a single problem with algae.

I do get some dots of algeo on the wall (maybe 10 or so) but they get wiped clean by my algae eaters within a week.
I never scrub my tank. I do water change every 2 weeks. During exam times i leave my tank for more than 1 month without doing anything except for feeding.

When people are frusturated my algae I cant really understand cuz i've never had that problem.

Maybe it's my water. Maybe there is something in the tank.
Lol i am pretty sure it;s somethig in the tank cuz i tend to put in lots of stuffs.

What kind of light is it? Do you have any pics of it? Is it fluorescent?

If your light system can draw a max of 25w (therefore will give up to 25W of power to the fixture) then you'll not get 100w out the other side in the lights surely.

I think there's a mix up there.....you have a light that can produce the equivalent output of a 100watt incandescent bulb but from only 25watts power usage. Flouresent lights work like that and for aquarium use you need to go by the actual power consumption when working out your watts per gallon. So, in short, you have 25watts over 10 gallons which is 2.5 watts per gallon.

What fish do you have in there. I don't know for certain, but i would have thought that would be pretty stressful for them?

Squid.

it's a fluorescent light blub. And my capony outlet max is not 25watt. I know that because i used 70watt once and i melted the plastic (though it was pretty darn bright)
It's a light blub that gives out 100watt of light with only 25watt actual consumption.

Well, i am gonna just say this is my experimental tank. I got a lot of weird things in there.
All fish in there are over 18 and volounteered purely out of their free will :)

I have notice that the two platies have developed dark red line that goes from their head to their tail. And it wasn't there before. I also noticed that the guppy really enhanced the colour of the tail. It looks like it's glowing. Maybe it's something from the mudstone or strong light.

But i know for sure that platies didn't have that red line.
As for my algae eater, nothing changed much.

Well, other then that, they seem to be doing fine. They are eating more swimming more. Maybe their metabolic rate shot up with increased light.

Seriously, i think the sunlight in tropical area gives FAR more WTG than 10.. lol so i think it's gonna be okay....

hopefully

Yup, go with actual wattage. Flouresent bulbs sometimes list their incandescent equivalent, which is confusing.
