Life Span Of Guppies

I am interested in getting a tank of guppies; I am just wondering roughly how long their life span is; I seem to recall reading 2 years - is this true?

Thanks

Absolutely correct....... In the wild, (apparently) they get slightly older...2.5 years on average.

2 years is right around, but captive guppies dont always live as long.
Ther females also can die after giving birth a few times.
i always find a dead guppy and look i the tank to see loads of fry.
make sure ya have at least 2 females for every male as they will chase them all the day.
they will reduce the stress on the females.

I was thinking of getting a tank of all males.

I'd love to breed them; but I don't have any facilities or space to take care of fry. I'd be able to take care of a few but not many unfortunately.

just males will work fine, just if u do get any females get more females to males, to stop harassment from the males

For purposes other than display, I have my males seperated from the females, and they make a stunning display... (photo below.

Well for me I'd like all male becasue as I said I don't have facilities to look after fry; and if I am having a tank of only one species then I may as well go for the most attractive.

I have noted though if I do get females to have 2 or 3 females per male though :)

My suggestion is at least 3 females to a male..... (I'd even go up to around 6 females per male.... the females will always be pregnant)
