just got a lido 120 second hand and wanted to know what options i have for changing media /sponges what are in the filter

looked it up and think filter is juwel 3.0 filter
all ive done is change loose wool that was in top of filter.
was a quick change from shutdown to setup in its new home.

???

what other options are there.

also what pump replacement is it likely to need and have.

I had a Juwel Lido for several years and I thought it was pretty good; the internal filter was quiet and easy to maintain.

All I had in my filter was the polishing pad on the top (easy to change or clean, weekly without moving everything out) then every basket after that was filled with sponge, nothing else, just sponge.

Eventually I removed it and replaced it with an external Tetratec EX700 just because I fancied getting the extra room in the tank not because there was anything wrong with it.

You don't need carbon; no one needs carbon uless they have meds to get rid of.

I hadn't heard of Cirax but a quick Google shows me that it is just another piece of stuff that needs replacing when it gets blocked up -- just use sponge until it rots (and I have been using sponge for ten years and none of it has rotted yet). Squeeze it out in discarded tank water to get rid of the crud then put it back in, job done.

I bought a replacement pump in case the original ever went wrong -- it was never used and I sold it when I increased tank size. My experience of Juwel pumps over the years is that they don't go wrong -- the same can not be said of their lighting units so when yours packs up (after about three years) I have one you can have for the postage costs plus the price of a couple of ales :) .

agreed with shinysideup. We've already discussed elsewhere how much I like and respect Juwel's build quality. I have nothing really to add. Just wanted to say I agree :)

Juwel sponges designed for the Juwel filter

going to order sponges what combination do i need ,

ie do i put in 2 fine or 2 course with others ????
