Lfs Job

I work part-time at a petstore (I am 14) and I get paid $7 (CDN) an hour.

I often think of working at a fish store, but I think there are several things that I wouldn't cope well with.

For instance, pet store owners might stock products which you know are ineffective, or useless.

Your manager might force you to never turn down a sale, and recommend the wrong fish in the wrong tanks

Can you really know about all fish? Sometimes people with even years of experience couldn't know everything, and lets not forget bad advice is frowned upon in fishkeeping worse than in many jobs...

Could you deal with arrogant customers who claim to know best? I've seen incidents where people have been telling LFS workers things which are hilarious, and rather than cause a scene the LFS worker has just had to agree with them.

If your manager is in charge of the tank stocking at the store, could you just sit there and watch if he made a mistake of putting CAE's with slow moving fancy goldfish? etc

Things like this all deter me from taking a job in a petshop. I'm not trying to put you off by any means, but I wouldn't want to work in an LFS for these reasons. Good luck!

keeping fish as a hobby
and working in a LFs are two toatlly different things.

the only thing keeping we at work is the discount.
