Bah, I am so urked right now.

so few weeks ago I bought a tank, one that I really like. a NEW tank, so I get it home and fill it up and everything is good, then I get a couple fish and turn on the lights and really look into for the first more then a passing glance, and I see a nice big scratch right in the middle of the glass. @$#$%#@ :grr:
So I turn it around and there is a couple more scratches, not as bad, so i leave it this way. few more days go by and the water starts to really draw the color from the bog wood. And wouldnt you know it, the scratchs are like floresent now and kinda glow, I see nics jsut about everywher.
Now two days ago I get new track lighting in the room with the tank, and I notice the silicon at 2 of the edges suck, and there is silicon on the outside too, and with the new lighting it stands out like mofo.
And looking through that end peice of glass I notice its not as clear and nice as looking through the front/back or other side.
So this leads me to beleive that peice was replaced.

I know I should have noticed this at the store, but really, I was told brand new, and expected it from a large company like they are.

So I go back today and ask if they have another one i could swtch for. He says it was the only one like it they had in. I complain a bit about how I feel I got a used tank and stuff, and ask if not a direct replacement then I want this other one and I would cover the difference.
He says "I think you sould leave now" :grr: :grr: $!$!#$(#$@@$$!@#)_$*

So now I sit here wondering if I should go up the chain at the store or just call my CC and do a charge back (for those that dont know it basically means reverse the charge so they are stuck with the bill) and then go somewhere else and buy one that doesnt look like complete garbage.

This is an allglass brand tank.

So should I just go back and talk to someone else? or what?

kick ass.i would not leave the shop till i got what i wanted.try to be as nice as possible for as long as possible.if this doesnt work, then, raise the tempo.

go in and demand to see the manager and if that dont work call consumers

Go back to the store and explain what the problem is, if you don't get the response you want ask to see a manager. Quote the sale of goods act. If the manager isn't very helpful then explain that you will get in touch with his head office as well as trading standards. If you are sold a 'new' tank then that is what you should recieve. Dont forget to get the names of any staff that you deal with so you can mention them if you do need to take it further.

It "could" be a new tank that was used to hold something that could scratch it or something, and or damaged in shipping and repaired? or maybe two came and both damged so they made one from it? I dont know, all I know is that it looks horrid, and I will toss it into the street befor keeping it where it is.

man this crap always happens to me too.

Put it back in the box. Bring the reciept. Say it was a present for your Grandman but she passed.....Or something hear-grabbing like that.

Works every time.

its full of water, has been for a bit now. dont have box, have fish in it.

and I have been into the store already about this problem, changing my story aint going to work.

go back and do what the rest of the people have said, be as patient as possible and kind, but if you need to dtep it up and just keep going up the chain of people in charge, til you get what you want.

its BS you should get what you pay for.

it was sold to you under the pretence it's new right? it's clearly not and they should refund you the price to a second hand one OR replace it (what they legally should do)

did u buy it with cash or card? barclay card insure purchases so you could claim on that if it's faulty.

regardless of if it holds water it works you've probabaly paid a small fortune for something that you expected (and very rightly so) to be perfect, and it's not. speak to trading standards and clarify your position OR just go to the library or internet and print out what you're entitled to as a consumer. that'll make em brown their panties

(or just go postal, go on you know it's more fun :D)

print this, march in there, show print out, claim tank and demand a present as they were mean!
