I bought a bag of expensive black moon sand, and im excited to get it in the tank, it just looks so different than normal sand, i was hoping I could get some ideas and see other peoples tank who've used black substrate, preferably sand, but black gravel would work too.

Do you guys find it hard to keep looking clean, or does most detritus stay pretty hidden in the black?

I found that most of the "icky" stuff stays pretty much hidden with the black substrate.

I used 2mm black gravel with 1mm black sand on top for my tangs tank...love it too and it's not that difficult to vacuum when you get the hang of it.

Sorry about the anubias...was put there as it was taking over my 100ltr community tank

cool, thanks for the pics, hopefully some more people will post em. i think its really going to bring out my colors when i go with black sand. maybe u guys could post what brand or company the sand is, cuz black sand seems to be more elusive and expensive.

Stunning tank. What is that backround? Also you have a little box like they do in the lfs what is that for???

Thanks, the background is made by Juwel and is the STR type. As 'minnnt' said the box is for fry. I had some very small galaxy rasbora i put in there till they got a bit bigger

Lovely tank! The 3D background looks great! :good:
