Lets Make A List For Fish Ist Meto Suit 20 Gallon Tank

I saw an amazing cichlid today. When I researched about it, I came to know that it requires minimum 30 gallon. Now none of us wants to stunt the growth of any fish right.

So please help me make a list of fishes all types cyprinds,cichlids,loaches,hybrids,catfish or whatever you think is right for 20 gallon . So that people can just read and know their limits. It felt so sick when you do so much research only to find u cant get it.
Lets make a good conclusive list and am sure it will be helpful to many.

I'm not 100 percent sure if they are suitable but I love corydorus they r so peacful and fun to watch

Betta and Dwarf Gourami together generally not a good idea! Crunch, the trouble with a list like this (besides extreme length) is the compatability factor. Many different species could fit, but many would not go together (like your example), so someone using the list would still have to do research. As for the cichlids, in a 20 gal, you are pretty much limited to Dwarfs.

8 Tetra Neons/Cardinals - Middle - Top Dwellers

The footprint/surface area of the 20 gallon needs to be taken into account. All 20 gallon tanks are not the same dimensions, this will affect stocking.

+1, the reason we only have "idea" stock lists, is becuase every tank if different.

Different tank sizes (Footprint for bottom dwellers, surface area for oxygen permiation)
Different tap water (Changes from suplier to supplier, and county to county)
Different equipment (Filtration, heating, etc)

There is too much to consider to build a "one size fits all" stocklist.

Yes indeed, But Mod and others I felt that this list should state what fish that u can get in 20g as to provide some expert selections. Like an answer to the question . Which fish from cichlid/livebearers/labrynth/etc genre can i successfully keep in that size. After he/she has found out what the person likes he then has to begin his research about all other important points like water seasoning, background,filter-type, substrate, ph , tank mates and other important stuff.

Say example Dwarf Cichlids can be kept in 20g too, so a cichlid lover shouldn`t be crestfallen and there is a general increase in the range of peoples choice too.

I wish all fish stores would post a big sign near the fish tanks saying "Stop! Before you buy a tank take a look at our fish room and with our employee's help pick out some fish you like. Then come pick out the proper tank." Then hand them a care sheet on how to do a fishless cycle.

Lol TRUE creek but your idea is completely feasible and we should let people know of it and suggest all nearby lfs to apply it.
