Leopard Molly - Black Strips On Tail?

Not good, but ammonia and nitrite reading can cause desease, prolonged bad water quality can cause the fish immune system to shut down.

So do i need to do anything? Or just leave him with minimal stress to get better?

hes hanging at the surface, tail hanging down

edit: he then moves around with the other molly and looks healthy, goes to the surface for a bit of air then swims around happy

Nope he not in good shape.
Is he hanging at the bottom of the tank yet, as they start off at the top them move to the bottom.

no, not yet. Put him in the hospital tank and added more anti bacterial tretament, hes swimming around and breathing seems normal so What can i do? wait?

help!

edit: - there have been more black fin marks appearing, whats the delay time for exposure to ammonia and the black lines appearing/disapearing?

Don't know to be honest never had it.
Sounds like the damage as already been done and the med won't work.
Livebearers need excellent water quality there not much go in them anymore through over breeding and in breeding, dosn't take much for them to go down hill.
Sorry to sound so negative seen it all to often, and even gave up on them myself.

This might help you .

Thanks for that, i'll wait and see how he goes. No more mollies/ overbred livebearers for me... had a fancy guppy go downhill a week ago very badly. I really hope my Dalmation molly pulls through though, very fond of him

Been there, had enough, most of the guppies were imported and full of desease, love them to bits, but couldnt take it any longer of never having them very long, was always ill even in good water quality,Plus they fetched internal parasites with them.
I have a quarantine tank now.
It was so frustrating and wasn't worth it in the end.
If you really want to keep them i would find a good breeder of them, as the lfs ones are just not worth buying.
