A few months ago I bought 11 zebra danios for a dollar. Or so I thought. The other day I was looking at the fish fairly closely (my usual obsessive counting) and realized one of them has spots instead of stripes. Could this be a leopard danio? They all came from the same breeder, so I'm a bit confused how it could get in this group.

I'm pretty sure that leopard danios are just a variation of the zebra form. There was probably a leopard danio somewhere in the genetics and its just popped up - probably with some others. Another thing could be that the breeder was breeding leopards and zebras separately and they were in the same tank. Why you only got one I'm not sure.
They all school together so its nothing to worry about :)

Ive got two leopards in my zebra school (9 zebras) and they seem unaware of their particular disposition and are happy in behaviour, pretending they are one of the clan.

I figured it was something like that. This little guy acts no differently from the rest. I can't believe it took me this long to spot him!
