hi,

iam looking at the arcadia stretch unit 900mm-1200mm , I have tropical fish cichlids 220L tank

wanted to order  tropical version   ref -  The Freshwater unit utilises a mix of 1.5W at 10,000K, 8,000K, RGB and 0.24w RGB LEDs  ** out of stock **  £69

They have a marine version as follows:

The Marine unit utiltises a mix of 1.5W at 12,000K, RGB and 0.24W Actinc Blue.   (in stock £74)

what the difference between RGB and Actinc Blue ???
would Actinc Blue be fine for tropicals

what do u think ?????

* this unit will be for middle of tank in addition to 2 x t5 at front and back of the tank ***

For tropical set ups, you would want around 7,500K with RGB (10,000k - 8,000K is ok) for best plant growths and more natural lighting colour to bring out the colours of plants and fish.

The marine set up is aimed at higher 10,000 to 15,000K as theese usually have live rocks and corals etc and need high K. Also Actinc Blue is exactly what it is, blue light, to make appear more natural and not sure if blue lights have a affect on stocking or rocks etc.

But in tropical set ups blue light does little or nothing for plants or fish.

thanks just wondered if i made a diff being only 0.24 , will stick to tropical version and just wait for stock or search elsewhere.

cheers
