The second (last) light unit that came with my Rena has tired of giving me electric shocks and instead chose to go bang, with accompanying puff of smoke. So I need a replacement and LED seems sensible.

Fishkeeping has taken a back seat over the last few years so I've got no idea where to start. As the unit itself has gone I'm looking for a setup from scratch, preferably something reputable that won't go the same way but ideally something which doesn't rely on a ballast. It's for a 4ft tank and doesn't need to be obscenely bright - it's a bit of a dark water biotope of sorts, and there are no live plants, but it is quite a high tank (2ft) so I don't want to skimp either.

Can anyone suggest a setup that would do the job, or give me any pointers?

I am looking for something just like that.

How is the light color temp and what does VFM stand for?

I'd really like to hear from someone who has used these. I bought a couple Chinese specials as an experiment and was pleased with the design but the light washes out the color of my fish. The description for the Interpet fixture says Bright White, which makes me think they may be similar to what I already have.
