I have read articles and have seen pictures of setups with leaves on the bottom, such as maple, oak etc... I was just wondering if anyone has had any expirence with adding leaves to their own setups. I figure it would lower your pH perhaps, but I was wondering what decayng leaves would do with the tanks water. Thanks for the info.

Not much, especially if you have a decent filter and bioload (and by decent, I don't mean both OTT). I find that with plecos in the tank, the leaves get eaten before they have a chance to decay.

I have oak leaves in my shrimp tank....gives a slight tannis to the water the shrimp love it

I guess I could just use the leaves from the trees that litter my pond every fall, they don't seem to mind the fish in there.
