Hey guys, just wanted to share myplans for a peaceful but large cichlid community tank, the tank size is deffinitly going to be 75gal+ but it might be over 100,
this is just the stock list, not how many i want

Severum
Keyhole
Festivum
Port Acara
firemouth
possibly Geo. brasiliensis
possibly Geo. surinamensis
bolivian ram
curviceps
checkerboard
african:
kribensis
thomasi cichlid
what do you guys think?any other peaceful, midly aggresive large cichlid to add?
And just so you know im not adding all of those species
any tank suggestions?

thanks

DD

How about a severum, some Uarus, a trio of surinam geos, and some other medium sized cichlids

Severum
Festivum
Port Acara
firemouth
possibly Geo. brasiliensis
possibly Geo. surinamensis
Those should be ok together^^^
____________
bolivian ram
curviceps
checkerboard
kribensis
thomasi cichlid
Keyhole
Those would work out well^^^

For the smaller cichlids, apistos would also make a nice addition.
For the larger ones, a few Uarus would be good

I don't know if the smaller and larger cichlids would coexist very well, I have a problem with putting dwarves and normal cichlids together :dunno:

Sounds like an awesome set up and definately would look cool. I also second the severum and uaru (I just got a female saturday) suggestions.

thanks for the ideas Dwarfs
i was going to put Uaru down but can not find them anywhere in my area!and trust me, ive looked near and really really far for one :p

one of my lfs is selling some of its tanks are selling a deal with a double stand with two tanks!which are around 80g each so i might get all the cichs :p
i just got some mamoth kribs on hold for me at my lfs(theyre around 5 inches, biggest ive seen) and im definitly getting them, so i might go with both of your ideas :)
thanks

Peaceful is not a word that can be applied to this setup. Cichlids are NOT peaceful. Controlled aggression is more like it. Because you're not choosing any nasty cichlids they won't kill each other, and because you're stuffing so many into a small area they won't be able to make anything that can really be called a territory.

The reason I'm telling you is because the Keyhole is an extremely docile cichlid that will not do well in the tanks you are suggesting. Do it a favour and remove it from the list.

freddyk - as i said before, this is not the list im going to put into the tank, just the list of fish that i possibly want.
and to me these cichlids are peaceful, they dont rip eachother to shreds and not necesarally aggresive.
Thanks for the advice on the keyholes.
They will be moved to their own tank in a few months, so they can breed peacefully.

Thanks again
