Large amounts of possible hydra or algae

Hello, I've recently set up a tank which currently has no fish and only plants. However, it does have a large amount of what I believe to be some form of hydra. They are mainly grouped on the glass however some have gone onto lava rock, driftwood and some plants as well.

I just wondered if they are actually hydra and if I should be concerned if they are. As well as if there are any methods to remove them if they are a problem. Thanks

not hydra but really interesting. you lot are getting some cool things popping up in your tanks.

not sure what they are. don't worry too much, they are unlikely to harm adult fish.

send the pictures to a university biology lab and see if anyone there can id them

Thanks for the advice I've had a look into what they are and some have suggested a species called

"Ciliate Zoothamnium arbuscula"

They are very pretty; sort of flower shaped.

How big are they? Do they move?
