I am curious if this will overstock my tank and the best method to handle receiving 2 Butterfly Plecos. I was told their max size is 5" but others claim 7" however I have only seen 5" in an Aquarium personally.
Current stocking list 55G - 600 Gallon Per Hour Filtration:
2x South American Puffers (Max 3")
4x Silvertip Tetra (Max 1.5")
1x Rosy Tetra (Max 1.5")
5x Platy (Max 2")
2x Cory (Max 3")
2x German Blue Ram (Max 3")
1x Dwf Gouram (Max 3")
1x Dojo Loach (Not sure type, 6" adult fully grown)
------ Total : 44.5" (If I am accurcate, may add some for 'width' of fishes)
Current stocking list 10G - 105 Gallon Per Hour Filtration:
3x baby platy fry (Max 2")
1x Cory (Max 3")
Questions
1) Do Cory's really get 3"?
2) Should I move Platy's to 10G with fry (eventually)? Would remove some load but would require a weekly water change due to heavy bio load in 10G.
3) Should I count Butterfly Plecos at 5"?
4) If I add 2 Butterfly Plecos after moving the 5x Platy I will be at max capacity right?
5) Do driftwood / plants help balance max capacity aquariums?
6) Worst case sceniaro donate Dojo Loach to friend to free up bio load?
Just need some advice on questions above or just your general suggestions on how to handle this situation. I am NOT going to flush, harm, or injury any fish; I would donate to friends who would keep them well and free of danger. However, if fish have to be moved due to bio load I would rather do this then harm them by allowing the tank to break cycle and become toxic.
