any of you that read my other post a while back re kribs will be aware that i had a tank disaster and lost the female krib i had just introduced to my male. well lots of work and several water changes later the tank is stable again and yesterday i got a new female krib. the introduction went perfectly, 2 very excited fish strutting their stuff, displaying and making a "love nest" in a rock cave.

only thing the passion seems to have cooled a bit now maybe it was just the initial excitement of the meeting or whatever i dont know. the female i got is actually a nicer specemin than the last 1 and although they have stopped displaying to each other her belly is still very bright purple and she still hangs around the cave a lot . the male just cruises round the tank but if he sees anything get too close to the cave for too long he will see it off so maybe they will maybe they wont lol.

having said that she has only been in the tank just over 24 hours so its still early days. not really fussed if they breed or not just happy to have 2 nice bright happy healthy colourful fish

sounds to me like shes layed her eggs allready. maybe to soon but thats exactly what mine do after mating
female guards the eggs from the male and the male guards the nest from the tank.
once mine are free swimming the female beats the male into a corner adn takes over half of the tank beating on anything that coems close.

just a thought i am going to have to get a small 2nd tank for the fry. how long (assuming i have eggs that is) is it after hatching that i need to be thinking about removing them to a seperate tank

what else is in the tank with the kribs??

if its just the kribs....i wouldnt move them

the 2 kribs 3 pearl gourami red tailed black shark pictus catfish pleco and 4 corys

the mother protects them until there big enough to run away about a cm mine left hers at. allthough if this is the first spawn i doubt many will survive the mother seems to learn each time with each brood. for instance the
first brood she just left them
2nd she and pa stayed with them
3rd they took them touring the tank for food
4th she scared pa away (badly injuring him) and finaly i have bred kribs as now they are surviving.
