Down a dark hole... Down a dark hole... with an ow
Hi there,

Well, im a daddy again

On a sensible note, i have 3 left of the first bacth
6 of the 2nd batch
and now another 40 odd new fry....

I fear my tank is beginning to get a bit overrun....

Although i make no attempt to "rear" the fry, they seem to do quite well in the tank.
The original parents shoo off the older fry, but the fry are quick and easily out swim them.

Basically, i really love having them in the tank - but is there such thing as a "Fry Trap" that i can put in the tank to catch the older fry.
I can then put these in my QT tank and give em away (Anyone?)
I was imagining some kind of one-way box with food in it, that the fry are small enough to swim in and not out.... :)

Any ideas, as i don't want to seperate them, to me its a natural process for the fish and the colours are simply amazing when together....

Thanks

EDIT (sp.)

Man, i dread to think how hard those krib fry are to catch!

They are sooo fast and nippy...

There must be some kind of device to let a small fish in and not out..... Perhaps i should look a converting my box filter.... if a fish is hungry enough you reckon they'll enter it?

hmmm... what to do.... :/

I used a big net and a little net together. Position the big net somewhere against the side of the tank, with the net pulled out to give a nice little sac for the fish to swim into. Then use either the smaller net or your hand and gently pursue the fry in a circular motion chasing them around and into the big net (like running a lap around a track). Leave the big net still and the little one can chase them right in. Using this method, I netted out my 70 Krib fry within a half hour without any major single-net chasing.
