ive been waiting along time for my kribs to breed, yesterday that finally happened, but i think they may be infertile, ive read on the internet that kribensis eggs are usually a brown/red colour, mine do look a pale white colour. :(

is this normal for a first batch of eggs to be infertile?

cheers guppy_man

Not uncommon with many cichlids. Kribs are superb parents though and if it fails this time, they will almost certainly succeed next time :good:

The problems start when they keep constantly succeeding.

well after thinking that my first batch of krib eggs were infertile, i watched my kribs for atleast 2 hours the one day, (SAD) lol, anyway they were acting abit weird, chasing fish away from a cave for no reason, female not leaving the cave to eat, i thought they were going to breed again, but thats not the reason, i had a really close looks right down the cave and could see what i thought was fish poo, YUP wrong again :p there are around 20 or so babies down there, they are not free swimming yet, but the parents are guarding them very well, and soon hope they will be free swimming.
something else i should add, is that there are 2 caves right next to each other, and the male and female have moved the fry from cave to cave, why are they doing this, can't they decide on what cave they grow up in lol, is this normal?

ive setup a 5gal tank with some of the tank water and an airstone, i haven't moved the babies yet, how long should i leave them before i should move them, because i have read that if i move them too early the male will want to breed with the female straight after, and may end up killing her.

cheers :D

ill try and get pics soon :)
