Hi,
This may be a strange question but here goes...
I had a breeding pair of kribensis till earlier this week when the male suddenly died :(
Now my question is.. since he passed away his breeding partner has started doing the courting and mating ritual with another female.. ie: they both chase other fish away from the breeding area and she has now begun to dig out the gravel inside the pot and block the entrance as she used to with the male? is this the norm lol?
Thanks for any help you can offer or advice..
Cheers
Mark

Ps.. Has anybody possibly got a male Kribensis.. thank's

Could the other one be a male? Do you have any pic's. Some fish are so horny that they will pair with anything ( Black and Pink convicts come to mind).

she was probably about to breed and when he died she still needed a partner. So she took the next best thing.
Same sex relationships, I dunno :)

Hi,
This is the original female...

Hmmmm just looked at the images more closely and think the second one could be a male due to the shape of its fins?
The belly is quite big n red tho which is what made me think it a female?
Wot ya reckon?

the bottom one does have a slightly pointed dorsal fin and tail but males don't normally have a pink/ red belly. I spose you will find out if its a male in a weeks time when the eggs hatch.
He could be a male in drag :)

That is a female if i've ver seen one. Her body is to thick, and round. Besides, males look like this: http://www.darkentity.myby.co.uk/tank/Kribensis1.jpg
That male looks like Nigerian red, ut still a krib, and still a male krib. You can tell that the body is shaped differently. I've seen female con's pair up before. But of course, fry never ensue. You can leave the 2 feamles at it, or you can get 2 males.

Thank's very much for the replies, it was as i thought in the first place lol..
now i just need to find out where i can get a couple o males :)
Cheers
