(scroll to the bottom of the page this is old now lol not an issue any more) my female and male kribensis always cort and do their lil shakey dance. however yesterday i noticed a rather large white spot on the side of the females body. it isnt a lump or nothing. could anyone tell me whta it could be. it is not ich it is far too big to be that and it is only 1 dot.
i cant get a pictue of her as she is always in the cave.
thanks

It could be just a lttle "love nip"...they do get rough with each other. It should heal quickly, if it's an injury.

o ok lol. why wont they come out of thweir cave when i got them they were out and about now they just stay ytogether in the cave with the male always infront of the female as if he is protecting her

i dont think they have its not a big cave asin dark its just a brick hammered in half and put together to make like an arch i wil have a little chack and let you know but they hae done this for a few days only had them a week avent seen no eggs.
thanks

right i have just been reading up on breedig kribs and i have read that the females fan the eggs and they change shifts the male and female. they keep changing possintions and fanning the top of the right side of the cave but i cannot see any eggs anywere and i have also read that the male isnt allowed in the cave with the eggs. could this be an acception. has this happened to any one elce.
thanks

male has left the cave by himself for the first time ever he only leave when the female used to come out. the female is staying in the cave. do you think the female layed the eggs and the male was ferilising them. im so excited for some reason. hes back now just as i was posting this lol

The eggs are quite small, you might not be able to see them well inside the cave. Not sure what color krib eggs are.

Definitely sounds like spawning behavior though. Don't be too surprised or alarmed if you don't see any fry the first time - many cichlids have to learn how to care for their young. It's not unusual for them to "accidentally" eat their babies the first few times.

i have read that once the eggs are layed the male doesnt go anywere near them but he seems to be helping the female fan them if there are any i will post a 2 minite video and you will se them swap possitions.

here we go heres a vdeo of them sorry about xfactor in the background haha. as you can see they swap possitions fanning thetop of the cave. and one of them blocks the front of the cave

my kribs do the exact same my kribs are breeding at the moment and the male is always in the cave with her and when they come out they come out one at a time. it sounds like they do have eggs in the cave just give it a week or two and see how it goes.

woo shall i keep the tank dark. yeh that is what happes only one come out at a time. canyou see your eggs. the place where they are fanning it is just perfect angle whati cant see haha.
thanks

Well, it certainly looks like something is going on!!! Kribs often deposit their eggs on the roof of the cave...I think it's so we can't see them!!! Is that a second entrance in the back of the cave...I've read they don't like that. My Kribs have bred three times and have eaten each spawn. They haven't tried again in a long time.

yes it is haha i have read that they do like that. i cant change it now t wil disturb them lol. i hope they dont eat them allthough they probabl will. but i wl just keep the lights off for a day or 2 and feed them regular small feeds.
any one eles kribs do this
