Kribensis Babies ?

5 days ago i noticed that my pair have kribs had filled the entrance to their coconut cave with sand again to th point of just enough room to get in if the swim on their sides and the female had lost her fat belly and using a torch i could see some eggs not many though because of the lack of opening at the front of the cave, (they did this 2 weeks ago but their eggs disappeared the day after and they cleared the cave entrance),now 2 days ago i shone the torch in again and could see no eggs but didnt want to disturb them so have left them to it, today the female has willed the entrance up further leaving a gap only big enough for her to get in (male is bigger) and she isnt coming out all ive seen of her for the last 2 days is her nose at the small opening of the cave, the male is sitting outside the cave entrance and only leaves it when tankmates come near so he chases them away, the question is do you think i could expect to see some little wigglers in the next few days ? or are they just building up to their next spawning ?

and if there are going to be babies how old should they be before they are seperated from their parents into a grow on tank ?

well thanks for the help,,,,,, but checked in the cave with a torch through the small gap and there are some wrigglers in there dont know how many as didnt want to disturb them

You dont need to do anything - mum and dad will look after them. If your tank is mature with live plants there should be enough insuforia to feed them but if you are worried you can buy some liquid fry food from your local fish shop - use an eye dropper to squirt it into the cave.

Once babies are free swiming in 3-4 days mum will lead them around the tank in search of food.you can leave them in the tank but the next time the parents breed which could be as little as in 2 weeks time they are likely to turn on the fry. The other thing you will have to watch for of course if your stocking levels if they all survive!

well they hsve babies now mum leads them round the tank the odd 1 strays off and if mum misses them dad looks after them so there is 2 batches going round the tank there is the odd fight between mum and dad protecting their own batch of fry, its funny to watch then just before lights out they all go back to their cave to sleep but they are growing well
