Hi, i wanna breed kribs but need to know some things first!

1) Will a mature male and a less mature female be ok in a 60L aquarium (tetra)

2) What tank setup?

3) will Regular gravel be ok (ive heard they like to make the most of caves by making a pit into them) like the gravel you normally see in a goldfish bowl (1/2 cm)

4) will blue gravel bleach the colour out?

5) What age until max size

6)what brood size on average

7)how big, material and how many pots will i use in my aquarium taking the size into account

8)will fry be nice to each other?

CAN U ADD SOME GENERAL INFO ON BREEDING THEM ASWELL... HOPE U CAN ANSWER, GREAT HELP :good:

Sorry if this isn't detailed, but Im typing on my itouch. What do you mean " less mature female?". A 60 L is the smallest tank they can be in. That gravel size is okay. You need quite a few caves. You could break and clean a coconut in half and clean it. Also have of a flower pot will work. The gravel will somewhat bleach the colors. They will be full grown at about a year. Depending on age, an average brood will be about 250 fry. The fry should be nice to eachother.

They need cave shelter, I use shells into which the female can disappear. It can take a while cos they seem to make quite a strong pairing, but when you have a mating pair they look after the young and are very protective.

They mature in less than a year.

I've never had 250 young. Perhaps 50 for me, about every month or so, but these are eaten by other fish eventualy unless I put them into a separate tank / keep net.

how do i cut the shell and by less mature i mean younger and less likely to be in spawning mode quicker than the male in my 240L (sig)!

I would get the female ready for spawning. Her her tanks temp up, do more frequent water changes, and feed a high protien diet. Take a drill and drill into the shell, drain it and then bust it open. Then take the meat and and boil it. Then make an entrance in the shell for them.

yeah, thanks but what way do i placethe shell into the tank, how many pots will i put in the tank, how long will i leave the female in without the male and by taking the tanks temp up what temp did you mean?

If you broke a pot straight downt he middle. lay it down on the gravel so the female can swim in there. If you use a Coconut Half, then just lay it down as long as it has an opening on its side. Take the temp up to about 80 degree's ( 28 C)
