Well I finally bit the bullet today and bought a koralia 1600 for my 200 litre tank. I ummed and arred for for a couple of weeks about this as I was comparing the specified flows of both the 900 and the 1600 with my 750 lph filter, and didn't want to blow my tank contents to high heaven. Turns out, after advice from several people on here (you know who you are) that the 1600 is the exact right choice. The whole ambience of the tank has changed, my annoying dead spots have gone and the fish look totally revitalised, especially the rams who seem to be immediately gravid!! Tank should look alot cleaner now as the flow is gently cleaning the crud off my plants, and the pooh that was settling in the dead spots is gently flowing to the filter.
Thanks for the advice all, my only complaint is that it isnot as silent as I expected, but I can live with that

what noise it making, i cant here mine at all, can only tell its on by putting hand in front of it.

is it a proper koralia, are you sure its not resting on somthing and is it fixed to the glass tightly

Glad its helped :good:

I should upgrade really, how much did you find the 1600 for?

Mine hums too, sometimes its the wire touching something

I have got one of its bigger brothers, the 2800 and it is deadly quiet. You can only hear it humming if you put your head against the glass.

It's definitely a pukka koralia, brand new today. Just checked the leads and nothing is touching, it's the actual unit.

Don't know why that went on three times lol

Took advice from here and took advantage of my good relationship with the LFS and got it on return if I don't like basis. Paid a bit more at £45 though, but worth it for the peace of mind.

I've read somewhere on here that it can be rectified by turning it on and off to get rid of entrapped air, so I've tried this to no avail. I have also read you do something with an air pipe and the shaft but not entirely sure how to do this, and don't want to wreck the balance. I think I'll leave it on overnight and see what it like in the morning, but at the moment is relatively loud and disrupts the tranquility of the tank

I'll remove the duplicates :good:

Edit: done.

How do you do that, or is it a moderator privilege?

I paid £55 for the 4000 LPH one and £20 for the 900's. I cant hear any of mine :|

Both of mine are completely silent unless you remove the magnetized suction cup on the outside of the tank.

I'm not sure I'd call it a privilege  but yes, one of the roles as mods involves cleaning up duplicate posts/topics :good:

That would be why I couldn't find out how to do it myself then
