Hi folks

I have 2 new Koralia powerheads 1600 and they are quite noisy. My understanding is that they should be quiet. I have taken them apart and together again and it helped a bit with one but not overly much.

Any thoughts.

theres a thread on here somewhere and i can't find it...it tells you how to remedy the hum/buzz from a Koralia especially from the nanos.

what you need to do is, take the impeller out, and at the bottom of there impeller there is a gap of about 3-4 mm. This is where the problem comes from. What you need to do is cut a couple of mm off a bit of air tube and use it as a washer. It stops the noise.

if you don't get me i'll stick some pics up. :good:

Thanks Ian. Pics are always good. I'm a technical numpty.

I think I know what you mean though so I will give it a go.

Nylon washers from the hardware store work great too. Just stack them and check, adjust as necessary.

Yeah lads thats made a big difference.

I had some airline so used that. One is still a wee bit noisy so ill see if I can adjust. May go and get some nylon washers if I can't.:good:

Think they just get air stuck between the impellor and the axle. Turn them on and off a few times when new and you see lots of little bubbles come out. Mine was annoyingly noisy when new but became silent after a week or two. They just need to bed in a bit.
