Koi Carp And Refilling Tank

I am happy to mix some boiled water in with the cold, some people will even take it straight out of the hot tap.. in other words, mix hot and cold!

but Ive been reading a fluctuation over 0.5c can upset the fish, being the perfectionist that I am, Im not too happy to just start throwing in water without knowing the exact temperature.

am I being too picky here?

No, you should do only what you are comfortable with.

From my experience, 2-3C is ok, and there are species which require even more of a sharp drop to trigger spawning. Why don't you mix up the water in a bucket beforehand to the right temperature?
