I have had a male Knight Goby in my brackish tank for 3 months or so now. About a month ago, i got two females for him.
After rescaping the tank, ive ditched the ocean rock and added loadsa slate, as i like to be able to design caves etc. One DIY thing i did was to buy a t-piece like thing for the pond, so its like 2 inch in diameter. I stuck on pieces of slate to it, so you wouldnt think its really a pipe tunnel thing.
Anyway, where a piece of slate is slanted (not stuck on, so you can imagine theres space for a fish to swim between the slate and the pipe) ive noticed my male sorta 'hovering' in there for the past days. ANyways, ive spotted eggs in there! Loads of them! He always comes out and gets rid of the others! I have only just realised that the females been in with him too :D
So yeah, ive got eggs off of a fish that i wasnt even planning to breed lol! The only thing is ive got a GSP and 2 Columbian Cat Sharks in there, so they wont be around for long lol!
The pair have proper colured up, even more! Their caudal fin is a deep bronze colour and everything, lovely fish!
Anyways, there's not alot on the net about them breeding, so i cant help in anyway. Anyone done it before? Cheers

wow thats cool, i have 4 knight gobies and i have been trying to get them to breed with no luck so far, keep us informed of the outcome. good luck

fantstic, hope they grow up big & strong. love knight gobys.

Thanks :)
Ive read that the fry eat green water...where do i get that? From a pond or something?

I wouldn't just because of the risk.
I've seen designs of tall, cylindrical tubes that contain water (rich in nitrates and phosphates), left in daylight have air bubbled into them.
Sort of like this, but that is on a large scale.

Risk of what?
As Fred says, the best thing to do is probably get a clyindrical tube (a jam-jar is fine), add some water and place it on a strongly lit window sill. Add some aquatic plant fertaliser after a week and see if it gets an algae bloom. You could bubble some air through, but its not essential, but it would increase the amount of algae.
Oh yeh, great to hear about the Gobies, ive not heard of anyone achieving this yet!

The risk of picking up any nasties from a pond that would be undesirable in an aquarium.

HAve a bit of bad news....
Went on holiday for abit for New Year (went on the 30th came back on the 4th) and got my aunty to feed the fish a couple of times. Well, on the second time, my ****head cousin came too.
Came home from the airport, so excited to see the fish. Ran upstairs to the bedroom to find my Columbian Cat Sharks kinda floating verticaly. I thought that was odd as they usually dash off whenever i come up.
But then i didnt see tha airstone working or filters. BEt you can think of the words goign through my head  Looked at the thermometer, the temperature was friggin 10 degrees celcius!!!!!!!!
At this point i spotted the one dead GSP on the gravel. So i got down and looked at the extension lead. It was pulled out as if someone had gained access to it. My mobile was next to it too. Thought this was strange. Flicked the switch back on and all was working. My other GSP came to the front to greet me, looking as if his swimbladder had gone.
Anyway, i got him out and put him in a jug where he still is today. Unfortunately i dont have another tank spair for the poor thing! Will take him to the LFS this weekend. Poor thing wants to get back to his big tank!
I then started searching for the pressume dead knight gobies and mollies, and to my surprise they were alive :D One bit of good news :S
So i putthem into my Fig 8 tak now, which is also brackish.
And guess what...theyve breed again within a week of being stressed out and being moved form one tank to the other! Amazing huh? Defo got a breeding pair now :good:
We know that my cousin turnt it off. He may have thogught it was the plug to the computer..or not... maybe he wanted to kill those poor innocent fish! All i can say is im lucky that it wasnt the marine tank! If he had turnt that off, which would have been obvious i swear id have killed him after all that money and effort gone into it!
Theres no point asking him as we know that it was working and turnt on before we went and my phone was on my desk, not next to the power.

One positive thing out of this is that ive now stripped down the tank and am using it as another marine...for seahorses :yahoo: which ive been wanting and researching on for a year now!

I doubt the eggs will hatch but, at least theyre breeding lol!

Ouch, that really sucks.
I'd be absolutely fuming, if I was you...
Good luck with your new plan.
