Kh Info Needed

hello all,

My kh is low and i would like to increase it without affecting the General hardness much, is this possible?

Ditto KH 3 is fine. Although I'm surprised to see a GH of 11 and a KH of only 3?

Could be because of a buffering substrate. I have high GH in my 33gal but the KH is low because of the ADA soil.

Tap water- 11
Tank with ADA soil- 7
May not sound like much, however I have found that snails don't last long in the tank with the ADA soil in it.

Will adding bicarbonate of soda affect fish when added directley to aquarium to incease KH?

The KH wouldn't hurt the fish, however add it gradually, as adding KH will raise the pH and a sudden change in pH can kill fish.
