Just had to tell you all that my Keyholes have decide they like their new smaller home and decided to breed again.
So i thought I'd keep a little diary about because i know theres quite a few people who keep and are trying to breed keyholes on this site. Unfortuneately I don't have a camera so there won't be pictures

Came home for work and checked all my tanks and found that Mrs Keyhole was being overly aggressive, her colours looked amazing and that there was a small protusion in the anal area. All signs that she wants to breed. Mr Keyhole (Bandit) was following her around and trying to look big! We'd fed them blood worm for a couple of nights this week and did an extra water change. I suspect that got them into breeding condition.
So We removed the flying fox as they were really beating on him. we then debated removing the other fish: They share an 18 gallon planted tank with:
2 Panchax
2 badis (one in a fry net for healing)
1 whiptail catfish
4 Black neons
However all these fish are hard to catch and the keyholes were skittish as it was so we decided to leave them there the night to see what happens. tested water all parameters are fine
By 11pm Mrs keyhole had laid a load of eggs in the flowerpot. we then turned off the lights and left them to it.
13/08/04
This morning all the eggs are still there and Mrs Keyhole had stayed with them all night.
Looks like the other fish aren't that interested in them and if they get too close they are quickly chased away so i think i'll leave them where they are for now instead of disturbing the tank and upsetting the keyholes. However i am expecting that at some point the keyholes will eat their own eggs as this is to be expected in the first couple of batches
