Has pictures and info. ^^

Mine is very peaceful. I would choose ones that aren't hiding in the LFS tank to help ensure you don't have overly shy ones. Mine is a total pig however and will try to horde treats like peas to himself. Make sure that there are hiding places for them though because they do like to be hidden when they sleep IME.

I agree with Aphotic Phoenix, they like somewhere to hide so provide plants for them to hide. We have bogwood in our tanks for our Plecos and the Keyholes like to shelter under that sometimes.
We have a male and female in our tank with Barbs and Tetras. They are very peaceful and occasionally have a play in the bubbles from our airstone. They eat flake, pellets, frozen foods etc.

Just watch out with them, most of mine have caught dropsy and died when no other fish is affected and water stats are fine. This has happened to a number of keyholes in different tanks.

They're great fish. I have 3 juveniles, and they are constantly schooling together. I thought they would be more independent like my Rams or other cichlids but they seem to really like their own company. Extremely mellow fish, but they do get scared easily.

Also, I have found that they really like eating algae. In fact, mine do not really like any of the blood worms or other meaty foods I feed, they just pick around at the rocks all day. I once put a piece of bog wood completely covered in thick algae in my tank and my keyholes ate all of it in one day!

I also hear they mature very slowly, so if you are looking to get a male/female pair, you should buy 4-5 now because it is hard to find adults in stores.

I found that ours grew really quickly. We brought them a few months ago and they were only about 1", now they are about 3".

Yep i think they are going to be a cert!! So what ratio shall i be looking for ? 2 females 1 male?

Also ive got 20 Gallon tank, What other tanks mates do you suggest?

Im going to get Corys and Amano Shrimp, would that be ok?

A ratio of 1:1 for Keyholes.
I have kept keyholes for 4 years and I have found that they REALLY benefit from regular water changes. I change approx 20% a week and this should be seen as a minimum. If I do a few 40% changes they get a lot more active, look more alert and show better colour.
Mine love bloodworm and most other foods. As a treat give them some shelled, halved peas. They love those!
As mentioned above, plenty of hiding places will actually prompt them to be more adventurous, so you'll see more of them. If they know there's a safe spot within easy reach they'll stay out more.

Great fish!

im not 2 keen on keyholes compared 2 the likes of gold severums or green severums or even convicts. i think theyre abit plain IMO and the severums r really bright n colourful, beautiful fish but every1s different i suppose. why dont u have a look at sum gold severums or green severums theyre amazing. just my opinion thats all.

The thing about keyholes is...they are so amazingly peaceful compared to other cichlids which is why they make a great choice.
